Help Shape Future Transit & Intercity Rail Climate Investments

Draft Guidelines Available for Consideration and Comment

The California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) invites you to two workshops to help shape guidelines for the next round of climate investments by the Transit & Intercity Rail Capital Program.

In 2014 the California Legislature passed Senate Bill 862, which established the Transit & Intercity Rail Capital Program. The program was then amended in 2015 by Senate Bill 9. It is one of several programs charged with using cap-and-trade auction proceeds to help the state reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. The program makes transformative climate investments by expanding public transportation ridership and capacity.

In November, two listening sessions helped shape the draft guidelines, which were then delivered to the legislature. They are available here: These January workshops will be your opportunity to comment on the draft guidelines, which will become final by February 4, 2016.

After the workshop, a recording of the Sacramento workshop will be uploaded here:

In June of 2015, CalSTA completed the first round of the Transit & Intercity Rail Program, awarding $224 million to 14 transformative projects throughout California.

Please send questions & comments regarding the program here: Please provide your comments by January 22, 2016, if you want them considered for the final 2016 program guidelines.
